I very quickly made this in GIMP, project file in comment
@Mossy I kind of fail to see the comparison...
Cryptocurrency blockchains are distributed, giving them a dectralized nature too.
This underlaying art is really neet though. (:
@maze I'm not trying to say that cryptocurrencies are not decentralized. Rather, that they are the commercialisation of decentralization, and thus get placed above the spooky house :)
@Mossy wasn't decentralization one of the meanings of blockchain? Create money (or something) that can't be controlled by the government or big companies? But someone managed to find out that you could own something and manage it without owning this one server which is needed to run the entire infrastructure. Attempts to create money were more but became failed on strong centralization.

@Mossy I understood. People are refined and they will try to monetize anything. I like how decentralized networks like mastodon works, you don't like one instance - you can move to another. But what do you think, if on decentralized networks will be majority of people, big companies will move there too and will try to monetize it, how they did with blockchain. So yes decentralization je future, but cryptocurrencies too, and outside there still be someone who want earn some money on it.
@Mossy I think that what we call decentralization here will be decentralization only until there is a large company capable of attracting most users to its side despite using decentralized technology.
This seems like 2 blanket statements: All decentralized social services are good? And all cryptocurrency is bad?
@Mossy@mastodon.lol if you want at least the possibility of true decentralization you have to burn down ICANN and every DNS server
A Mastodon server friendly towards anti-fascists, members of the LGBTQ+ community, hackers, and the like.
