There's a very real possibility that the Fermi Paradox actually arises because it doesn't take into account that rocky planets didn't exist for most of the universe's history!
@chronos Very cool info, thank you! I also think it appears likely that Earth is "early" among life-bearing worlds, & consequently that humans are likely "early" among sapient life. This also fits in rather neatly with the "grabby aliens" hypothesis, which has fascinated me lately.
