And as always, I don’t believe that getting sick/infected is a personal failing at all. What bothers me is how people are simply mildly annoyed at it happening and then quickly shrugging their shoulders as though it doesn’t matter, nor is there anything they need to change in how they respond to being sick.

And I think the worst thing I’m seeing is how many people are just… okay with it, and think it’s the “new normal.” We have already had experience with post-event sickness for as long as we’ve had cons and festivals. It’s just… this one is considerably more dangerous for a lot of us. I’m not trying to shame folks for wanting to enjoy themselves, but I feel like just accepting it as not a big deal now does folks like me a real disservice.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s a deadly pandemic going on.

Many people can’t get vaccinations (e.g. young kids) and it can still cause potentially life-long disability even when vaccinated and if the acute disease phase is “mild” or not noticeable.

My first picture book is out! It's called Poesy the Monster Slayer and it's an epic tale of bedtime-refusal, toy-hacking and monster-hunting, illustrated by Matt Rockefeller. It's the monster book I dreamt of reading to my own daughter.

It's just that theirs are dominant and unquestioned in a way that refuses coexistence with difference, always elbowing others out while denying they do it.

Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world. ~ Lucille Ball

Anybody has recommendations of websites to create events that could be used instead of Facebook?
The events are activist types, so marches, workshops, etc.

Thanks to the fearless efforts of laboratory physicists and chemists, we know exactly what colors of light different types of gas and molecules absorb.

For an exoplanet this works because the planet looks ever so slightly bigger (blocks out more star light) at colors that are absorbed by the atmosphere

So when we see the planet look slightly bigger at certain colors, we can say "hey, there must be Water or Oxygen or CO2 etc!"
